POSITION SUMMARY:
HIAS seeks a Case Worker Supervisor, Virtual PIR to provide case management services to refugees through the Virtual Program of Initial Resettlement (PIR) for newly arrived refugees. The Case Worker Supervisor, Virtual PIR will work with a virtual resettlement team to provide initial resettlement services remotely to refugees who will be placed with their family and friends during their first 90 days of arrival. Additionally, they will provide case management to cases that require more expertise and knowledge. This role works towards ensuring Virtual PIR is effectively implemented and programmatic goals for refugee self-sufficiency and quality services are met. Key responsibilities include case management services to newly arrived refugees and coordination with the broader HIAS Virtual PIR team to ensure key outcomes are achieved.
Note, this position is based at our headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland or our office in New York, New York, and we will consider a remote option for applicants who live outside of commuting distance to either of our offices and are based in other states in which we are registered (California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia).
This is a temporary position that starts ASAP and ends March 31, 2026, with possible extension. The salary for this position is $70,000.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supports the implementation of post-arrival activities under the Virtual PIR, which provides virtual case management services to clients for up to 90 days after arrival to the U.S.
- Partners and connects with state and local government and service providers in states where HIAS is implementing the Virtual PIR to refer clients for support and services.
- Serves as the expert in Virtual PIR programming to ensure compliance and supports any monitoring-related activities, to include review of client case files and preparation for monitorings from the funder.
- Provides administrative support for invoicing and coordinates tracking of Virtual PIR grant and other funding in coordination with the Manager, Initial Resettlement and funder.
- Supports the Director, Initial Resettlement in reporting to funder and HIAS executive leadership, including by tracking PIR outcomes and indicators.
- Monitors client progress towards self-sufficiency.
- Maintains regular communication with the team and Director, Initial Resettlement for cases that require additional needs and support.
- Provides support for other U.S. Programs Resettlement & Integration functions, as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Undergraduate degree strongly preferred.
- 2-3 years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of U.S. Refugee Program required; previous work experience at a resettlement affiliate or a national resettlement agency required, with both preferred.
- Previous case management experience strongly preferred.
- Previous training or public speaking experience desired.
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365 platform, including SharePoint and MS Teams, preferred; proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Spanish speaking ability preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to maintain key relationships with partners and funder.
- Well-organized and attentive to detail; self-starter able to manage and carry out varied functions of multi-faceted program, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
