Program Coordinator, Early Employment & Career Development

HIAS seeks a Program Coordinator, Early Employment & Career Development to provide effective, humane and high-quality initial employment services to all refugees resettled through HIAS’ affiliate network that are served with initial Economic Inclusion programming through Matching Grant, Career Pathways and Digital Literacy. They will provide expert technical assistance to HIAS affiliates in the field and they will support refugees in attaining access to initial employment, meeting or exceeding the outcomes sought by the grants. They will work with the Program Manager, Early Employment & Career Development to build partnerships with companies that support Economic Inclusion programming, including employers interested in hiring refugees and companies interested in supporting with other programmatic core services (e.g., companies with digital language learning and job readiness software).


  • Manages Matching Grant (MG), Refugee Career Pathways (RCP) and Digital Literacy (DL) services provided by specified HIAS affiliates through the development and provision of program documents (standards, case management tools and credentialing guides), review of affiliate reports and documentation, on-site monitoring and regular written and oral communication with affiliate management and staff.
  • Builds out HIAS’ digital literacy expertise, including direct participation in developing new resources and programming, providing technical assistance to International Programs and other U.S. resettlement partners and testing digital collaboration tools that enhance employment programming.
  • Provides technical support and training to affiliates on fulfilling the requirements of the MG, RCP and DL programs by developing and conducting regular remote and in-person, group and site-specific trainings.
  • Contributes to program design and partnership for the benefit of affiliate partners to strengthen and expand early employment and career development programming.
  • Prepares periodic written reports for federal funders, as well as application materials.
  • Conducts assessments with the local affiliate partners to identify gaps in service and resources for analysis.
  • Supports the designs of program materials, such as case management tools, digital training courses and curriculum for use by affiliate staff when working with refugees being served by these programs.
  • Develops and compiles (in collaboration with affiliates, other HIAS program staff and corporate partners) outreach, educational, informational, monitoring, training and other program materials for use in ongoing program activities.


  • Undergraduate degree required.
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience working with refugees, immigrants and other diverse cultures and populations.
  • Previous work on federally funded programs preferred; knowledge of or experience with U.S. Refugee Admissions Program preferred.
  • Experience with data analysis, research and monitoring preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Good proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to travel domestically, as needed.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, with ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Full status to work in the United States and willingness to provide employment verification as needed.
