Driver - Georgetown, Guyana

Location(s): On-Site - Georgetown, Guyana

HIAS Guyana is seeking to recruit a Driver who will be responsible for safely transporting company staff as well as various products and materials to and from specified locations in a timely manner. Maintaining records and keeping a professional appearance.
The Driver will report directly to the Finance and Administrative Manager and shall coordinate and articulate with the other staff in Georgetown HIAS office.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Conduct safe driving of official HIAS vehicles on duty travel throughout Georgetown and nearby locations as directed by HIAS staff.
• Responsible for the accurate completion of the HIAS vehicle logbook including fully documenting each and every trip completed.
• Ability to navigate around Georgetown and nearby locations and to also make use of navigation aids where necessary (satellite phones and maps).
• Responsible for maintaining the professional and clean appearance of the vehicle.
• Full compliance with all relevant HIAS safety and security policies.
• Adherence to all national driving regulations always.
• Ensure proper maintenance of designated vehicle. The Driver will be responsible for the routine check-up of the vehicle. This will include but not limited to oil, brake function, water, lights & tyre condition, windshield wipers etc
• Confirm availability of vehicle tools and equipment before, during and after work.
• Ensure vehicle first aid kit and fire extinguishers and other vehicle safety equipment are available and in good condition.
• The Driver shall at all times park the vehicle at the designated parking area/secure place with all doors and windows locked and keys kept safely unless otherwise authorized.
• Assist in off-loading should the need arise and picking up goods within assigned geographical areas.
• Report and follow standard procedures with any accidents, damages, and injuries sustained while operating vehicles on time and write a formal incident report; reporting any vehicle defects or security-related incident and take appropriate action(s).
• Cleaning of vehicles’ cabs and interiors.
• Serve as the Focal Point for security-related issues arising in the city of Georgetown and nearby locations. Establish a network of reliable sources in order to be informed on possible incidents and/or problems related to safety and security in the area. Report all issues and emergencies to the Line Manager and to the Country Director.
• Assist staff for petty logistical activities, both in office and on field sites.
• May be required to work out of normal hours on an occasional basis to maintain the service coverage.
• Support the administrative department in terms of transport requirement and logistical functions. This includes collection of invoices, quotations etc from suppliers and assist in general facilitation of the procurement process in the organization.
• Any other relevant duties which may be assigned from time to time by the Line Manager or the Country Director.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Driving.
• Completion of Primary Education and High School Diploma.
• A valid Drivers Licence
• Must have a clean Driving Record.
• Sound knowledge of Road Safety Regulations and must be safety conscious at all times.
• Working knowledge of local roads and routes.
• Sense of initiative and capacity to work autonomously.
• Trustworthy for dealing with confidential information.
• The ability to utilize maps, satellite phone and car manuals.
• Effective communication skills and the capacity to relate well with associates and clients.
• Basic Computer Knowledge.
• Punctual and reliable.
• Must be focused, confident and observant.
